Last year at DesignStreet we proudly celebrated our 20th birthday, and as the clock ticked over we looked back at the years of projects we had achieved with a real sense of accomplishment. What stood out were the many faces of DesignStreet, from the early 2000s to now, and the branding evolutions along the way. So, in true birthday fashion we decided it was time to show how we’ve grown with a welcome face lift and website refresh.
We needed a website that reflected who we are now and one that positioned us as a contemporary and competitive creative agency within the market. We saw this as an opportunity to clarify our services and encourage growth. Starting with a fresh coat of paint, we took to the drawing board and individually pulled together our own mood boards of design inspiration for a complete website refresh. We wanted this to be a collaborative effort between the team, so everyone was included in the visual interpretation of our brand.
Naturally, it took some time to all agree on a look and feel. One thing we really wanted to keep strong was our brand colour. Our DesignStreet orange has been a signature part of our brand since 2010, and we agreed it had become synonymous with our branding and represented us as an agency. All it needed was a little fine-tuning, aligning its hue with a more aesthetically pleasing orange to freshen it up! So we settled for a warm and welcoming shade of tangerine and supported our core colour with a contrasting black and white.
As we sorted through our design mood boards and concepts, much like you might do on a spring-cleaning expedition, we were able to strip back a clear and fitting design. We agreed on a bold and minimalistic balance between colour and content. We redefined our game, honing in on what we do best “by design”, narrowing down our key services and top current projects and allowing them the space to stand out in clear content blocks as you scroll through the site.
We de-cluttered our navigation bar, refreshed our font, revamped our logo and refined our social media presence. Over countless weeks of tweaks and changes, we now have a website that tells the story of who we are and what we are capable of as a creative agency.
